KAZIMIR
INTRODUCTION: As a child, Kazimir was the sole known survivor of a mysterious demon attack on his hometown of Dorvo. After fleeing far away, Kazimir was taken in by the reclusive hunter Okhto, and trained to be a hardened survivalist, thereafter settling into a quiet life in the woods- that is, until the same monsters from Dorvo resurface and kill again.
Realizing that he can no longer run from his past, Kaz embarks on a quest for vengeance and truth.
PERSONALITY: Private, practical, and brusque. Having never obtained closure to the loss of his family, he now avoids close relationships, masking his attachments beneath an icy shell.
Kazimir knows more than the average person on some select subjects due to his relationship with the shamans of Thalfrenn.
ISKEL
INTRODUCTION: Iskel was born with a curse that causes most people to shun him- no-one can touch him without reliving their most painful memory. Kazimir, his cousin and fellow outcast, was the only person who has nonetheless accepted him and taken him in.
Iskel is hardy for his age, but is overly empathetic. As he struggles through lessons on the cruelty of the world, he also seeks for a way to lift his curse.
PERSONALITY: Kindhearted, loyal, and fair-minded; but his predilection for compassion sometimes causes him to be too trusting in people. Due to years of training with Kazimir, he is hardier than he looks. Iskel yearns to reconnect with his mother, despite her abandonment.
YEOMI
INTRODUCTION: Like most daev, Yeomi was born into servitude. Unlike most daev, she had a kind master who treated her well. Yeomi grew up performing with her master's theatre caravan, until they were ambushed by the demon that Kazimir and Iskel were tracking, leaving Yeomi as the only able-bodied survivor.
Trapped between being sold as a bedslave and running away with Kaz and Iskel to uncover the demons' origins, Yeomi chooses the latter path.
PERSONALITY: Inventive, adventurous, and determined, sometimes to the point of stubbornness. As Yeomi was not raised to be obedient and submissive like most daev, she has a mind of her own, and acts on it; though her ideas may not always be the best.
RAGNA
INTRODUCTION: Ragniera "Ragna" is the heir to Thalfrenn, a hermitage that belongs to a long line of powerful Ispoliyad shamans. She met Kazimir soon after he escaped Dorvo, and the two maintain a turbulent, sporadic romance.
Ragna aspires to become an archshaman, a position only rewarded to the most exemplary of Arvosan scholars. She appears willing to make any sacrifice towards this goal- even her own happiness.
PERSONALITY: The Lordess of Sass. Incessantly bossy, so blunt she could be a mallet, with the temper of a rhino. Massively arrogant over her heritage, but backs it up with exemplary shamanic skill. Though she is experienced and skillful, her condescending attitude holds her back from making meaningful connections.
